Camp completely off the grid on Russell and High Islands. These remote locations require careful planning and full self-sufficiency.
Russell and High Islands offer isolated wilderness camping within the Frankland Group National Park. You can only reach these locations by private boat from the Mulgrave or Russell river boat ramps.
There is no running water, sewage system, or rubbish bins on any of the islands. You must bring all your own supplies and carry out your waste. Campfires and drones are strictly prohibited everywhere in the park.

Set up your tent in this basic bush camping area. The site provides bench seats and picnic tables. Only 16 people can camp here at a time. Camping is free because it is a Commonwealth island, but you still must book a permit online.

Walk up to this historic navigation lighthouse constructed in 1929. The structure continues to guide vessels safely through the Great Barrier Reef. Campers can easily access the site to view the exterior of the building.
